Have your say: Get trawling banned from the Hauraki Gulf |
Right now Fisheries New Zealand is seeking public input on proposed bottom fishing restrictions for the Hauraki Gulf - Tīkapa Moana - Te Moananui-ā-Toi. But every single option the government has proposed will mean continued bottom trawling in the Gulf - in what they call ‘trawl corridors’. After over a century of trawling destruction, and biodiversity loss on a shocking scale, bottom trawling, Danish seining and dredging must be banned from the entirety of the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park, so it can recover and thrive. Have your say by filling in the form on this page. It will be sent as a submission to Fisheries New Zealand. |
